On April 26, 2026, as a result of shelling of the city of Chornomorsk, the infrastructure of the sea commercial port «Chornomorsk» was damaged.
A tank with a capacity of 6 thousand tons of sunflower oil was destroyed during the fire.
The services of the Chornomorsk branch of the State Enterprise «USPA» promptly localized the consequences of the accident.
Barriers were installed on the territory to contain the spread, and storm sewers were blocked to prevent product residues from entering the aquatic environment.
«State inspectors conducted an inspection of the scene during the visit. No soil contamination was recorded, since the area has a concrete surface. At the same time, an oil leak into the port’s water area was detected. A stain approximately 400 by 200 meters formed on the water surface. Boom barriers were deployed to contain it.»
