A number of activists from the Philippine environmental movement came out in Manila to protest against plans to increase the purchase of Russian oil. Tens of people came out singing “No crooked oil”, “Get vikopne pilyvo”.
In the meantime, the Philippine government will increase its purchases of Russian oil, which will be supplied by tankers to the dark fleet. Even at the birch, Manila rushed to Moscow for oil supplies. This year, the tanker Sara Sky with nearly 100,000 tons of Russian oil ESPO Blend, transported from the distant port of Kozmino, arrived at the port of Limay. This is important for the largest oil refinery in the country, Bataan, owned by Petron Corp.
Activities are rife that such plans will first lead to increased congestion in the region from the burning fire, and otherwise lead to frequent ship accidents in territorial waters. Even older tankers often break down in the open ocean, leading to oil leaks.
Participants in the action called for a change in the share of fossil fuel from the regional energy sector and a reduction in the purchase of naphtha. Environmentalists also called for control over the technical plant of tankers passing through the Philippines.
