Activists are primarily concerned about the growing number of shadow fleet voyages and accidents that occur in the Aegean Sea. According to their data, the number of dangerous ages in the sea space has increased by 20% over the past month. They are also very concerned about the growing number of oil transfers that take place between Russian oil vessels.
By transfer, we mean the transfer of oil from one ship to another in order to hide the original cargo. Moreover, very often this happens near the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. Activists claim that such practices are very dangerous and threaten colossal environmental accidents.
Therefore, they advocate a sharp increase in the fight against the shadow fleet. In particular, an increase in the number of ships under maritime sanctions, as well as special environmental inspections in the Aegean Sea to control the technical quality of ships transporting oil.
